to testimony received from one released nun, Phuntsok and the other nuns were kicked, beaten and given electric shocks on their hands, shoulders, breasts, tongue and face at the time of the arrest. During interrogation each nun also was suspended for at least 15 minutes by their hands, which were handcuffed behind their backs, and beaten with an iron rod. The
